Apartment Fire On Granville, Three Injured Including Two Police Officers

Fire-1Three people were injured after police responded to a call Monday morning on Granville Avenue. Two of the people injured were police officers who were the first on the scene. The officers were taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston for treatment of minor injuries. There has been no word yet on how any of the victims sustained their injuries.

The officers responded to the initial call at 1906 W. Granville Ave. around 10:40 a.m. But soon after, firefighters were also called to put out a blaze that broke out in the same unit where the police officers were hurt.

Alderman Patrick O’Connor sent out an email alert around noon warning residents to avoid the area because streets were blocked off at Granville Avenue between Damen and Ravenswood avenues. About 40 minutes later, he emailed once again, saying that the fire was extinguished and the streets were reopened.

The fire department said that a few people were displaced by the fire but that there were no injuries due to the fire itself.
