Andersonville’s Taverna 750 Closes One Month After Taking Over Old Brixton Space

taverna-1The storefront which housed Brixton restaurant and bar for almost three years, was taken over by Boystown haunt Taverna 750 on September 2. However, after one month in the space, it has been confirmed that Taverna 750 will not continue to occupy the property.

Taverna 750 owner Paul Cannella, who had a lease dispute with their old landlord at 750 W. Cornelia Ave. in Boystown, was forced to quickly find a new space. After a short search, it was announced by that his restaurant Brixton at 5420 N. Clark would officially be the new home of Taverna 75o. Webler was to be majority owner of the new Taverna 750 and Cannella would maintain some equity in the business.

According to the Chicago Eater however, Cannella said they couldn’t secure a contract at the new Andersonville location, thus causing Taverna 750 to abruptly cease operations.

The Eater asked if there would be a comeback and Cannella answered, “I think we’re still licking the wounds and not ready to make that determination yet.”

The storefront at 5420 N. Clark has also housed In fine Spirits, Premise and Brasserie 54 all in just the last few years.
