Andersonville Farmers Market Today!

avillefarmersmarketlogoA sure sign of summer is the arrival of outdoor neighborhood farmers markets. This year, Andersonville is bringing a taste of summer a little earlier than usual.

The Andersonville Farmers Market began Wednesday, May 20, on Berwyn Ave. between Clark St. and Ashland Ave. The market, produced by the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce, is in its sixth year.

“We are particularly excited that we are opening two weeks earlier than usual,” said Jessica Hammer, staff liaison for the market. “Even though spring hasn’t really cooperated.”

The Andersonville Farmers Market features weekly produce, bread, and meat vendors. To accommodate a wider variety of vendors offering products that aren’t weekly purchases, Andersonville hosts rotating merchants selling goods like jams and baked goods.

“[Offering rotating spaces] allows us to explore new vendor relationships,” Hammer said.

The new vendor relationship she’s most excited about? Black Garlic North America. They produce aged, ferment garlic which Hammer describes as sweet and unique.

The market will also feature family-oriented entertainment and knife sharpening while you shop.

Andersonville Farmers Market accepts credit, debit, and LINK cards through a tokening program. The market runs Wednesdays, 3 – 8 p.m., May 21 through Sept. 3; Wednesdays 3 – 7 p.m., Sept. 10 through Oct. 15.
