Edgewater Arts Festival Gears Up For Its Fifth Year

The Edgewater Arts Festival has announced its dates and agenda for this year’s event. The fest will be entering its fifth year hoping to continue the growing popularity and attendance.

According to Edgewater Artists in Motion (the group who puts on the event), the fest was established in 2013 to help put Edgewater on the map of artistic destinations in Chicago and celebrate its cultural and creative diversity, while helping local businesses grow.

The event will take place this year from September 23-24, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1040-1190 West Granville Avenue (from Broadway St. to Sheridan Rd.). It will include over 100 artists from Chicago, selected by juried process. There will be many different types of art media shown including painting, photography, glasswork, illustration, pottery, mixed media, functional art, and hand-made jewelry.

There will also be three stages with live performances such as jazz, reggae, country, flamenco, African drumming, show tunes, classical music, folk and choir singing. Kids will have a large selection of activities to choose from as well, like  a children’s activity corner,  a young artists’ gallery with artworks by students from local grade schools and high schools and a children’s music talent showcase with performances by elementary school aged kids who reside in Edgewater.

The Fest is organized by Edgewater Artists in Motion (EAIM), a 501(c)3 organization and Big Buzz Idea Group, a Chicago event planner.EAIM’s mission is “to enhance Edgewater’s appeal as a vibrant, pedestrian friendly, commercial district; to assist existing businesses and attract new business; to showcase original art in Edgewater for the long-term benefit of the community.”
