The Goldblatt building in Uptown (4720 N Broadway) will once again be alive with literature this weekend.  The building, which was recently home to a Borders bookstore, along with the Uptown Broadway Building’s basement (4701 N Broadway; rumored to once be a speakeasy) will host the Chicago Book Expo 2011 this weekend.  On Saturday (10am-6pm) and Sunday (12pm-6pm) over 40 Chicago fiction and poetry pressess will participate in a pop-up bookstore there.  In addition, the weekend will feature a “literary spectacle” with auxilary events throughout the Uptown neighborhood.

Auxiliary events include the Preface Reading Series, a literary nonprofit fair on November 19, a world-premiere commission of Chicago rock-band Joan of Arc performed to accompany Charlie Chaplin’s His New Job on November 19, architectural tours by Chicago Architecture Foundation on November 20, and a complete offering of author readings, workshops, children’s activities and other special programs. For more info, check out the event’s website.
