Rivendell Theatre Ensemble moving to permanent space

While Rivendell Theatre Ensemble has been actively presenting plays exploring the female experience for over 15 years, they’ve done quite a bit of moving around. After enduring the challenges associated with an itinerant existence, they’re finally preparing to pack up and make the transition to a dedicated and permanent home. Rivendell’s new home is a renovated, 1,600 square foot double-storefront space located at 5779 N. Ridge. Construction is reportedly nearing completion, with an opening slated for February. In fact, the first event scheduled to take place in the new theatre will be a presentation of Women at War, set for February 8th at 7PM. Food and drink will be offered along with tours of the new space, with a $10 donation suggested. Rivendell will also very likely carry the unique distinction of being the first Chicago theatre to open in 2012.
