Edgewater Development Corp’s Director Leaving After 6 Years

Trinette Britt-Johnson

The executive director of the Edgewater Development Corp. will be leaving her position effective Friday, April 10, to start her own full service real estate development company.

Trinette Britt-Johnson has spent nearly six years leading the EDC. She helped establish the local non-profit community based organization to redevelop Edgewater’s commercial resources to better serve the entire Edgewater community, according to a press release and the EDC’s website.

During her tenure, Britt-Johnson developed EDC’s Dealmakers and Small Business Expo events. She also coordinated programming for free educational workshops for small business owners.

“The Board of Directors and I are happy and supportive of Trinette pursuing her passion and establishing her own business,” Tina Travlos Nihlean, president of the EDC board, said of Britt-Johnson’s new company, TBJ Development Group. “She has contributed tremendously. In fact, as Trinette launches her new business, EDC has contracted to retain her specialty services to EDC.”

Nihlean said the EDC will continue to build on Britt-Johnson’s accomplishments. As the organization celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, it will continue to be a leader in promoting new business attraction and expansion, she added. EDC will have its must-attend Edgewater Dealmakers on May 6, its Taste of Bryn Mawr on June 25, and its Small Business Resource Expo in November.

“Adding to all our well-established services, we will be building our resource and co-working space at our new offices,” Nihlean said of the move in late 2014 to 1055 W. Bryn Mawr. “The new executive director will come into a strong organization that is poised to grow our capacity to serve the Edgewater business community.”

Meanwhile, the EDC will announce its interim executive director next week and has established a search committee to identify and hire a new executive director, Nihlean added.
