CTA_derailment2At 2:07 p.m. Saturday afternoon, a CTA southbound Red Line train derailed as it approached the Granville station in Edgewater. One person suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital.

All 175 passengers were extracted successfully off the train by 3:30 p.m. According to reports, all emergency procedures went as planned even though passengers grew increasingly anxious during the hour long wait for rescue.
