Condo Refuse Rebate Applications Due Soon
Applications for the condo refuse rebate for the 2011 operating year are due to your Alderman’s office by January 31st. The rebate for 2011 will be limited to a total of $75 per owner-occupied residential unit – a reduction as part of the most recent budget passed by City Council. The rebate was originally stripped completely from the proposed budget, but many fought to keep it and in the end the result was a reduced rebate that will ultimately be phased out by 2016.
To receive the rebate, condo associations must fill out this form and provide a copy of their scavanger contract for 2011. Only associations who applied for the rebate in the previous three years will be eligible, the city is not accepting new applications from newly converted buildings or newly formed associations. For more information, read this fact sheet on the City of Chicago’s website.
