Alert Issued After 3 Armed Robberies In 20 Minutes On Sunday, One Victim Shot

The Chicago Police Department issued a community alert after a series of three armed robberies in Edgewater and the surrounding area were committed by the same group of individuals on early Sunday morning. One victim was shot during the incidents.

The three crimes were all committed within 20 minutes on Oct. 4. The first incident occurred on the 2700 block of W. Rosemont at 2:45 a.m in the West Ridge neighborhood. The suspects then drove East and committed a second armed robbery on the 2600 block of W. Hollywood at 2:50 a.m. in Edgewater. The crew then headed back West and committed a third armed robbery on the 3200 block of W. Catalpa at 3:05 a.m. in the North Park neighborhood.

According to police, the three suspects involved in the crimes parked their vehicle and approached the victims, sometimes blocking the victim’s vehicle. The offenders then displayed handguns and demanded belongings.

In two of robberies the offenders discharged the handgun which struck a victim in one of the crimes. There was no information given on that person’s status.

The suspects were driving a gold or beige older model Ford Crown Victoria with body damage.

Police described two of the suspects as black or Middle Eastern men, one tall with broad shoulders and the other with a medium build. The third suspect is described as female, possibly Hispanic with short blond hair. All three were wearing masks during the crimes.
