Weekend shooting on Kenmore
Multiple news sources are reporting that a man was shot early Sunday morning on Kenmore Avenue. The incident occurred at 5500 North Kenmore around 3AM, and a 31 year old man was struck. He was then taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was listed in good condition. It is unknown why the shooting occurred or if CPD had any suspects. Some residents had informed us that they saw police activity near Berwyn/Winthrop (which would be 5200/5300 North) around this same time – we are not sure if they are related. Anyone with further info please share in the comments below.
Somewhat unrelated, but we recently came across this page on the Chicago Tribune’s website which tracks crime reports that are inputted into the City of Chicago data portal. The Tribune’s page then maps out the crimes and also ranks each neighborhood. Currently, Edgewater ranks 47th for violent crime, 52nd for property crime and 75th for quality of life crimes. Check it out.
