Weekend muggings in Andersonville and Lakewood-Balmoral neighborhoods

Early Sunday morning three women were robbed at gun point in the Lakewood-Balmoral neighborhood, the Chicago Tribune reported.  According to the story, the women were walking home down Berwyn Avenue around 12:10am after visiting a local comedy club when a man brandishing a handgun jumped out from behind a dumpster and demanded their purses.  The suspect took $26, student ID cards, state IDs and one older-model cell phone and then reached over and groped one of the victims before fleeing in a dark-colored, late model vehicle being driven by another man.  The women called the police shortly thereafter, and they issued a flash message describing one of the men as black, early 20s, 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt with gray pants, and carrying a black gun.

Another incident occured shortly after just blocks away near Winnemac and Glenwood where a man was approached from behind, pushed to the ground, by another man who then screamed: “Give me your phone!’’  The victims wallet and cell phone were taken before the suspect fled into a nearby SUV.  It is not clear at this time if the two incidents were related.

In addition to the description above, please note the suspects are black.

Why would the blog post on Facebook “Be careful and alert,” then withhold key information that would help citizens do just that?

Seriously. Is it sexist to inform us that the suspect is male? WTH
