Founded by Hillary Bayley in 2008, Music for Kids is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization located in Edgewater that provides tuition-free instrumental music lessons to Chicago Public School students who do not have access to similar educational opportunities.  Music For Kids began as a summer music program in Edgewater, and it has since grown to teach violin, cello, and music theory lessons at Edgewater Presbyterian Church on Bryn Mawr to over 25 kids year-round.

“Music for Kids is an organization, run at a very high-level and with limited resources! Volunteering at Music for Kids gave me invaluable teaching experience with a group of unforgettable students,” says Monica George, who works with the organization.

The organization subsists on monetary donations, donated instruments and classroom supplies, and a core of volunteer teachers. Music for Kids is seeking committed volunteers to work with the organization during the school year. Anyone with experience in music or education and an interest in volunteering is encouraged to contact Music For Kids at musicforkidschi@gmail.com.
