Something to do for all on Valentines Day
There are plenty of traditional Valentine’s Day options in the area, as we mentioned in a previous article, such as great dining options, candy/gift shops and florists in Edgewater and Andersonville. But what if you don’t have a special someone, or simply aren’t feeling in a cupid-like mood? There are plenty of non-traditional and even anti-Valentines day options right here in the neighborhood and beoynd:
Hopleaf (5148 N Clark): The popular Andersonville destinations hosts their “This Much is True” reading series every second Tuesday of the month. This week, in honor of St. Valentine, the readers will be focusing on the lighter side of Valentines Day. The free event starts at 7:30pm, but grab your single friends and plan to show up a bit early as the event always draws a full house.
Mary’s Attic (5400 N Clark): Stop by the Attic for a visit with the “Heart Doctor.” Ben Lerman will be performing a special Valentines Day show with other local comedians entitled Heart Doctor; An Evening of Music and Comedy. The event begins at 8pm, and tickets are $10 at the door. For more info click here.
Homemade Pizza Company (5305 N Clark): Don’t feel like dining out or cooking today? Pickup a home made pizza, breadsticks or salad from HPC between 1pm and 8pm and a portion of all sales will be donated to Team Cheetah, The Ride for Aids.
In addition, if you’re looking to venture outside of the neighborhood we’ve come across such events as the Fourth Annual Anti-Valentine’s Day Pub Crawl on Southport, an Anti-Valentines Day party at Lincoln Hall, and the Chicago Reader’s Third Annual Anti-Valentine’s Day Party at the Logan Square Auditorium.
