Nothing discriminatory about refusing to rent to gangbangers or peoplecwuth lousy credit. And the city has ways of making miscreant landlords pay a price. Just need to ID the buildings and let the inspectors loose. It would’t take long to bring the crummy landlords into understanding their civic duty

Maybe we need to make those landlords more accountable. I admit I’m not sure how. If they refuse rental applicants I’m guessing they might be accused of housing discrimination. Personally, I’m sick of seeing Rahm in photo ops while bullets fly throughout the city.

A local cop told me part of the problem is gang occupied buildings nearby with absentee landlords who don’t screen tenants.

Hood rats loiter and cause problems at this intersection day and night, and nothing of substance is ever done about it. Winthrop is essentially an open air drug market, which is presumably why they’re in the area to begin with. Should be another bloody summer in Edgewater Beach.

This is sickening. I’ve only live in Chicago a couple of years, but does anyone know the history of why this city didn’t get a grip on the gang problem decades ago? Who was paid off back in the day to allow the gangs to grow as prominent as they are now?
