Sheridan high rises under Boil Water Advisory after water main crack
The Association of Sheridan Condominium/Co-Op Owners issued the following alert late yesterday:
In working to switch a service pipe serving Kindred Hospital from the East side of the street to the new water main on the West side, a crack developed in the East side water main serving a number of high
rises. This leak has now been repaired. Such developments are not unusual, nor are they cause for alarm.
On the other hand, the situation will result a few things for residents of the following buildings:
Water is being restored to these buildings, but they are being posted with “boil orders”, purely as a precaution. I am attaching a copy of the order for your convenience. The reason is that our Water Quality Section is running standard tests to ensure the safety of the water. The test takes 24 hours, and cannot be hurried. We want to make sure everything is good before lifting the order.
Please read and follow the instructions on the boil order. We will notify you as soon as the testing is complete and the order is lifted.
WATER SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO A FULL ROLLING BOIL FOR
AT LEAST 5 MINUTES TO ENSURE THAT IT IS SAFE
FOR CONSUMPTION. BOILED WATER MAY BE STORED
AT ROOM TEMPERATURE OR REFRIGERATED IN A
CLOSED CONTAINER UNTIL NEEDED.
