Bitter guest threatens homeowner
A 59-year-old man reported being threatened by a former house guest around 8:30 p.m. March 16. The victim told police that the house guest, a man in his mid 70s, had stayed at his home for a few months in the 2200 block of W. Foster.
The house guest, who reportedly had been drinking, swung a garden hoe at the victim numerous times, but missed. The man then fled in an unknown direction. The victim also reported that the house guest broke through his front door, cutting his hand and threatening to send the victim back to Croatia in a box.
Police toured the area and checked with neighborhood hospitals to see if the house guest sought treatment for a bloody hand, but didn’t find him.
Bus stop robbery
A 35-year-old man was robbed while waiting for a bus in the 1100 block of W. Berwyn. The victim told police that two men in their 20s approached him around 8:40 p.m. March 16.
The men shoved and shook the victim, until they were able to snatch the victim’s back pack. The men ran away, along with the victim’s school books, medication, cellphone and personal papers.
