That isn’t likely to happen. So don’t get your hopes up. Too bad there wasn’t a SERIOUS effort to save and reuse the building. The arcade actually could have been made into a little economic engine! The Edgewater Historical Society did too little too late and doesn’t seem to have even hooked up with the Preservation group in the City. No that they are very effective. Seems our City has an abysmal preservation lobby that folds quickly! We have such a rich architectural history and tradition that has not been protected. Always amazes me! Ald. Osterman;s policy of just meeting with surrounding neighbors about a development seems to dilute our power as a community to have impact on developmental policy. We have a very talented commmunity and could start thinking outside of the box. I believe this building is a done deal and has been for awhile. Maybe we should demand a new archiect!!!

A beautiful design will say a lot about Edgewater in the years ahead. The Alderman and the community shouldn’t miss this big opportunity to improve the Gateway.
