The northern strip of Clark Street will welcome a new addition to the retail scene this weekend as Sauce and Bread Kitchen opens their doors at 6338 N. Clark St (next door to Norse Bar) on March 2nd.  The duo of Mike Bancroft, of Co-Op Hot Sauce, and Anne Kostroski, of Crumb, have paired up to create this Edgewater cafe and market where fresh local foods can be purchased for dine in or carry out.

Bancroft originally started Co-Op Hot Sauce to support his non-profit endeavour Co-op Image, an arts and entrepreneurship organization, and still to this day donates half of the hot sauce businesses profits back to the organization.  Co-Op Hot Sauce makes much more than spicy goodness, however, as they also make and sell bbq sauces, salsas, pasta sauces, pickles, jams and more.  Paired with Kostroski’s bakery, which features baked goods that are created with organic flour  and grains, and you have a unique cafe serving up eclectic eats.

According to their Facebook page, the cafe will be open on Thursday and Friday from 8am – 8pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 3pm.
