It’s hard to believe that Vintage Garage is back for their fifth year now. The ultra-cool and extremely popular event brings together a diverse blend of vintage dealers every third Sunday of the month (April-October) to a parking garage at 5051 N. Broadway.

Vintage Garage has gotten many accolades including TimeOut Chicago naming them the number one reason they are excited about summer. Their season opening show will be this Sunday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Melissa Sands of Vintage Promotions and producer of the show told EVB that this will be the biggest show in their history. Literally double the size of their largest market previously. So far, their Facebook event page has about 5300 vintage-junkies attending.

Sands promises more vintage, more dealers, “This year we have 22 Full Season Dealers.  What it means is they will be there everything single month without fail, each in the same spot. You can count on it.” She added, “Knowing that can help designers, decorators find something specific. Collectors can talk to them about what the are looking for and know they can check in with them next month. This builds long term working relationships with our customers and community.”

To keep on trend, Vintage Garage’s organizers pay attention to the economy and what millenials (their biggest group of customers) are buying and what they like to do.

Every month the event has a different theme. The vendors at the market hunt down items that correspond with that month’s theme and add those elements to their booth. Sands Said, “For May’s mid-century modern event, dealers bring all their coolest stuff from all categories. If they have found some good mid-century modern along the way, this is the show the save it for.  We also do a vinyl month in June and October.  August is 1986 and September Retro Chicago.”

Sands can’t believe that this show will be her biggest market ever and admits that she might cry if all 5300 Facebook invitees show up. The weather this Sunday is expected to be 65 degrees and sunny.

Sands said, “Events are hard, people have choices. Yet we are growing, I’m proud of that and it’s a direct testimony to the small businesses each month at the Garage. Where would I be without this amazing group?” She added, “It’s a great feeling but also one that means you better stay on your toes, dot your I’s and cross your T’s.”

June 19- Record Ramp/Father’s Day
