People’s Passion Play now showing in Andersonville

By Jeremy Bressman

Quest Theatre Ensemble’s The People’s Passion Play is currently playing in Andersonville’s Blue Theater which is adjacent to St. Gregory the Great Church.  The musical, written by award-winning, Chicago-based playwright/director/puppeteer Andrew Park with original music by Scott Lamps, chronicles the creation of the universe and key Biblical events through the Passion and Ressurection.

“The People’s Passion play can only matter if it is relevant to our current lives,” Park said. ”In the past, Passion plays have connected people to a shared, spritual past, and they’ve invited folks to consider their present political circumstances.  The People’s Passion Play is a celebration of how we have come together historically and suggests how we could come together today.”

The show runs on Fridays and Saturdays through March 31st at the Blue Theater, located at 1609 W Gregory.  Admission is free, however donations are recommended.  For more info or reservations, visit www.questensemble.org or call 312-458-0895.

I took my sister and 2 nieces to see this play last weekend—-it was great! Good for adults and kids—the costumes were amazing and the show was exciting. The scene that ends with the birth of JC was magical….I wish I had a recording to watch it over and over again. This is the 2nd Quest Ensemble play I’ve seen and really enjoy the productions. If you haven’t been yet, you gotta check them out!
