Comments on: O’Connor Running to Maintain His Aldermanic Position

The “vitality” of Andersonville has little to do with O’Connor and everything to do with the housing boom of the north side.

First, the 40th ward ends at the middle of Clark Street. The east side of Clark is in the 48th ward. They switched up aldermen a few years back and the 48th ward’s part of Clark has changed in the same exact way as the 40th.

As a resident of Chicago for 47 years, Edgewater for 18 years and the 40th Ward for 5 years, I am sick and tired of O’Connor.

His ethics have been questioned time and time again… just look at his Wikipedia article if you don’t already know about the issues related to his wife’s real estate transactions in the ward:

Or the fact that he — on a number of occasions — provided family members with city payroll jobs. Links didn’t work, but references are on Wikipedia.

Or the shady moves he pulled when his campaign financing was being investigated the city’s Inspector General and then insulting the Inspector General (called him an “idiot”) claiming he was just trying to “help” him.

The guy has made enough money off of us over 30+ YEARS, while giving little in return.

It’s time for him to go.

Curious to see the boatloads of money being spent by O’Connor to get re-elected now that he has competition. He has rested on his laurels, ignored his constituency, and abused his position of power to gain real estate transactions for his wife. In over 20 years of asking for help, I’ve never been on the receiving end of any, but continually passed off to his thug-like minions. Unless I am mistaken, O’Connor’s only interest has been in greasing his own palms and he has no regard for the community.

I am curious to know what his opponent has in store for economic development. This is a huge concern to the community as Andersonville business district is one of the more unique community business districts in the city. The District (and my business is in this District) as managed to remain vital during one of the worst edonomic declines in modern times.

Thank you for the accusation, but you are incorrect. This was an article to tell the community what platform he is running on. We made no opinions in the piece. Last week we did the same article on his opponent. It was fair reporting for both candidates.
