A new sushi restaurant owned and operated by two brothers has opened in Edgewater. It’s the third sushi restaurant that has opened in that location.

Blowfish Contemporary Sushi Restaurant held its grand opening on March 23 at 1131 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. It has opened in the former location of restaurants Yokozuna and Shinobu, between N. Broadway and N. Winthrop avenues next to the Bryn Mawr red line CTA station.

The new restaurant is owned by sushi chefs Puje and Tuvshin Sukh, who use modern and traditional cooking techniques, according to the restaurant’s website. More information on the types of cooking techniques was not available.

The menu includes items like Ninja Calamari (thinly sliced tempura calamari with togarashi, or chili pepper, and spicy mayo), the Firecracker (deep fried spicy tuna, cream cheese, avocado topped with spicy mayo, chili and sweet soy sauce), the Crunchy Dynamite (shrimp tempura, crab mix, cream cheese, avocado, cucumber and sweet soy sauce), and the Orange Rush (soy paper, snow crab, salmon, avocado, jalapeno, lime zest and spicy ponzu sauce).

Blowfish Sushi is open Mondays through Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 11 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 10 p.m.

these crazy rolls scream 2002. people aren’t into this anymore

I believe the problem with the other restaurants closing down there is that the windows are tinted and it makes it appear as if the place is closed. You can’t see into the place to see if anyone is in there!

Delicious food! The third time is a charm with this one.

We noticed it right away and had one of the best sushi lunches we have ever had! Everyone–go check it out! No need for it to turn over ever again. Great food, fun decor, excellent service and a super creative and well executed menu. Sorry to make this a restaurant review instead of an article comment but I’m really excited to have them here and wish nothing but the best! (Also great portion sizes and prices…)
