A new bead store has opened inside of Blue Buddha Boutique as part of a joint effort to teach people how to make jewelry with their hands.

“We complement each other,” vice-president and co-owner of AVP Jewelry and Beads Ana Pizarro said of the decision to partner with Blue Buddha Boutique at 1127 W. Granville Ave. AVP’s grand opening was held on July 1. This is AVP’s second location. It also has another store at 3960 N. Elston Ave.

AVP specializes in different types of beads and beaded jewelry, while Blue Buddha Boutique specializes in chainmaille products, Pizarro added. AVP also teaches various techniques in jewelry making, custom makes, and repairs custom jewelry, its website said.

Pizarro opened her store in Edgewater for a number of reasons. She likes the neighborhood’s many stores and restaurants, she said. The store is also conveniently located near the CTA’s Red Line stop, which means she gets to people watch. “I love it,” she added.
