New Primary Care Facility In Andersonville Reinvents the Typical Doctor’s Office Experience

The Clark’s lobby & waiting area

With a multitude of primary healthcare medical facilities to choose from, area hospital Swedish Covenant has opened a new satellite office in Andersonville that aims to rethink what one would expect of your typical doctor’s office visit.

The Clark at 5346 N. Clark opened recently after a total overhaul of the old Swedish Bakery building that took a year to complete. The initiative started after thorough market research into the best ways of servicing potential patients in nearby communities. And of course, what better area for Swedish Covenant Hospital to invest into than the historic Swedish neighborhood of Andersonville.

“We are redefining the entire patient experience and will offer an unrivaled level of care in a comfortable, elegant environment,” said Dr. Shayna Mancuso, OB/GYN and Medical Director of The Clark. “Our message to patients and the community is ‘welcome to feeling cared for’ and we plan to live that in many ways by offering excellent care options with high end amenities.”

The facility offers a warm atmosphere and many conveniences you would not expect in a medical office. The lobby and waiting room are comfortable spaces that  include complimentary beverages (coffee, tea, infused water), free WiFi, online booking, same day appointments and concierge check in services. Even the exam rooms are designed to make people relax with a spa-like feel, specialized seating and lighting to ‘enhance patient comfort.’

The Clark’s Exam Rooms

“Swedish Covenant is one of the last privately owned hospitals in the city and that is really important because it gives them a lot of flexibility to something outside the box – like this location,” said The Clark Patient Liaison Manager Mark Raymond. “We wanted this to feel like a hotel lobby, a lounge or a spa as opposed to your typical sterile medical office. This is really where healthcare is going as people are looking for a great experience as opposed to the dread of going to the doctor’s office. Everything that was done in the design of The Clark was done to cater to that idea so we can care for each patient.”

The Clark will offer six different doctors at the Andersonville location including Dr. Mancuso and five primary care physicians. They will offer quality healthcare catering to the whole community including services geared toward women and LGBT health issues. Services will also include integrative and functional medicine such as specialized testing, alternative treatments and 1-on-1 lifestyle counseling.

“We were thrilled to hear Swedish Covenant was coming to Andersonville. The Clark will continue the legacy of a beloved Swedish institution in that building,” said Andersonville Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Director Sara Dinges. “They are adding a terrific amenity to living and working here; now you don’t have to leave the neighborhood to see a doctor! Their beautiful new space will bring a much needed service to our neighborhood for many years to come.”

The Clark will be having a community open house this Saturday and Sunday, March 16-17 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. where residents can come in and get a tour, enjoy complimentary refreshments and even talk with the doctors to see what services are offered.
