Both New And Long-Standing Businesses To Get Special Nods At 7th Annual Andersonville Awards

With many successful Andersonville businesses celebrating significant anniversaries this year, the strip has seen a large number of new storefronts open as well. At the 7th Annual Andersonville Honors celebration both new and long-standing businesses will get a special nod.

The 2018 Andersonville Honors, which is hosted by the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce, will be held at the new Chicago Magic Lounge (5050 N. Clark) on Wednesday, March 21 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.  In the past, businesses were voted on by the public and won special plaques. This year however, the event will recognize new businesses that have opened since January of 2017 as well as businesses celebrating milestone anniversaries (10-50 years).

“The Chamber is excited to have a new approach to Honors this year, and it is one that celebrates the community as a whole,” said ACC Community and Events Manager Laura Austin. “We have businesses that have been here from 1 to 10 to over 50 years and everything in between, and what better way to honor them by hosting the event at location with a 2018 open date, Chicago Magic Lounge.”

The Honors event will feature lite bites by Bar Roma, truffle and caramel delights by Katherine Anne Confections, and entertainment by Gus Giordano Dance School. Tickets are available online for $50 which includes one drink, a raffle and live bar magic.

The public will still get the chance to vote though. Special brackets have been created with iconic Andersonville staples going head to head for your vote (for example: glogg or water tower, Swedish pancakes or falafel). Each round lasts one week culminating in a showdown on March 27. Second round voting starts today and can be found on the Andersonville Chamber SurveyMonkey page.
