Putting brakes on Ridge?

City thinking about allowing parking to slow night traffic on North Side artery

Ridge Avenue, which runs on the North Side through the Edgewater and Rogers Park neighborhoods, has an interesting history. Also known as U.S. 14, it’s one of the original U.S. highways. It travels through Laura Ingalls Wilder’s childhood hometown of Walnut Grove, Minn. — made famous in Little House on the Prairie — all the way to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.

Most daily drivers on Ridge, however, aren’t thinking about Old Faithful. They’re focused on using Ridge to get to and from the north suburbs and Lake Shore Drive.
