CHICAGO, IL – Chicago firefighters worked for over 20 minutes to free a man who became stuck in the rocks on the lakefront on the city’s North Side.

Fire Department personnel were called to the scene in the 6200 block of North Sheridan Road at about 6:30am according to fire department spokesperson Quentin Curtis.

Rescue crews used the “jaws of life” to move the rocks and free the man’s foot.

He was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in serious to critical condition with lower extremity injuries.

There was no immediate information available about how the man got stuck in the rocks.
