No one wants their Jimmy Choos’ scuffed up! This is perfect for that crowd to have plenty of parking on the premises so those walks are nice & short to the club’s front door. I’m all for not having to walk far especially since Chicago is notorious for bad weather at the drop of a hat. NICE goin’ S&C Club!!!

Just be grateful it is not a strip mall or an armpit disaster like across from MCD’s. This community should be focused on cleaning up and getting rid of crap like that that is an eye sore to the neighborhood..

As a resident of that area, I am pleased the Country Club bought it. Had a high rise been built, my view would have been obstructed and my property values decreased. The Club maintains the property they have beautifully! More power to them! I must admit, I lobbied hard for an Ihop, but the Club buying it makes sense!

1) You’re making a false assumption that a “market rate tower” (or any kind of tower for that matter) would be built there.

If developers were interested in building a tower there, they would have bought the property.

2) A parking lot vs. a vacant lot = essential status quo.

3) If you think the SCC is to blame for ossified property values in Edgewater, then someone needs to give you a reality check.

Take a breath Jeremy. Yes, a store would be preferable to a parking lot, but a landscaped, lighted active parking lot is preferable to a vacant lot. And the notion that this one change in land use will somehow doom Edgewater is silly. If you do leave, let us know what utopia you move to.

Talk to any real estate agent/broker/etc. a surface lot in place of what should be a vibrant dense market rate tower is massive net negative for the community. Enjoy the sinking ship. I’m getting out.

sounds like their intention is a surface parking lot…any potential this corner of the neighborhood once had just took a serious nose dive. Might be time for me to finally move on from Edgewater before our property values take another hit. When will people realize that suburban style development destroys communities.
