As many know, Andersonville is home to some marvelous locally owned businesses. These neighborhood gems reflect the pride we take in our neighborhood and provide us with many unique goods and services. As the holiday spending months come to an end it is important that we keep our small business owners in mind over the long winter months. Be it a bite at Ranalli’s or a brew at Andersonville Brewing, keeping our business local helps these businesses thrive.

Imagine if you will, a program that not only helps attract residents to local business, but rewards them for each dollar they spend. Does such a thing exist? Yes! LoLo, locals supporting locals, is a reward based company that encompasses the dollars spent on your debit or credit card into reward points. No extra cards to carry around, no complicated information to remember. As their website states, just spend like normal!

“This is where we live and work” said Matthew Simpson, co-founder of LoLo along with Clark Harris. “The larger the group of locals, the better foundation of support is created to help in the ups and downs of our economy” said Simpson. In a chance encounter meeting with our neighborhood’s Chamber of Commerce at a conference in California, Mr. Smith and Mr. Harris felt their dream paired perfectly to our neighborhood. The overall goal of the program is to stimulate local spending through a reward program while still giving local businesses the tools they need to succeed. Consumers receive 5% in rewards for each dollar spent at participating businesses. Rewards are redeemable at any participating local business, regardless of what participating business you have spent money at.

Currently the following businesses are participants of the LoLo program…

  • Jerry’s Sandwiches
  • City Olive
  • Early to Bed
  • Green Sky
  • Andersonville Brewing Company
  • Hamburger Mary’s
  • Notice
  • Ranalli’s of Andersonville
  • Room Service
  • Women & Children First
  • The Sofo Tap
  • Vincent
  • the pH Comedy Theater
  • Painted Light

Hamburger Mary’s is a chain which started in San Francisco and has locations in six US states and in Germany. Sure, the locations might technically be locally-owned–but so are most McDonald’s franchises. Come on.

Hamburger Mary’s is not the same as McDonald’s! It is technically a franchise (not a chain), but each location is locally owned and has local control of pat everything (no national/regional supply chain, etc). Programming and even menu items vary from location to location. he Aville Marys does more to support local and be environmentally conscious than most of the restaurants on the strip.

This is a great program. Many of us have joined but as you can see there are numerous restaurants that have NOT joined but yet they love the community. Not to name any specifics ( insert names) but just go up Clark street, they all should be on the LoLo list. They want the community to support but what are they doing for the regular customers? For those on the list, I say THANK YOU!

      Hey Randy,
Thanks for your positive reply. The Chamber as as well as the LOLO team have given all business’ the opportunity to participate with personal visits and it is up to the owner to participate. Seeing the newness of the program, inquiries by patrons and mentoring by the existing business’, additional stores and restaurants will only see it beneficial to join. This program is going to flourish…patience grasshopper, it’s coming :-)

Maybe the business is providing a product people want. What do you mean what are the doing for the regular customers? Where does the money come from to pay for req
