Important to note for city dwellers: you don’t need a yard to compost! I’ve been vermicomposting for quite some time in my condo. The composter takes up about 2 feet of floor space and if you do it right there is no smell at all. It takes up to half a pound of food waste a day.

This website has really run out of ideas to write about.

That whole leaf-blowing thing always seems like a huge waste of energy and fuel, when ultimately, someone will need to dispose of the leaves by bagging or composting. It’s like my blowing all the dust in my house to the neighbor’s.

Just a note, I have contacted Ginger Williams at Alderman Osterman’s and the city no longer picks up yard waste along the blue carts. It was a budget cut two years ago. The Alderman’s office is pushing to get it reinstated. Unfortunately it still shows up on the website.
