Is that a raisin in my bagel or…..?

We recently noticed this big bright yellow “License Suspended” notice on the front door of Einstein Bagel at 5318 N Clark. What was ironic, (and what my camera did not capture) was that despite the obvious notice from the city that this business had been shut down, Einstein tried to cover it up by putting up their own free standing sign on the sidewalk claiming that the store was “undergoing renovations.” According to the Chi-Town Daily News, this establishment was shuttered due to mouse droppings being found during multiple visits by inspectors.

UPDATE (2/22/09): It appears that this isnt the first violation against this location. According to this article, this same Einstein Bagel was shut down in 2006 for multiple violations including mouse droppings and a black goo in the ice machine.
