In Fine Spirits (5420 N Clark) this week announced that they will close the lounge portion of their business on March 18th, and reopen sometime in April as “Premise” under the same owners.

Owners Johnnie Grozenski, Paul Hassenwinkel, and Shane & Jill Kissack have been making many changes to lounge recently, such as remodeling the outside facade, moving the front entrance door to the north side of the building and hiring new head chef Brian Runge (formerly of Graham Elliot), so this big evolution does not come as a complete surprise.

Premise will feature a 50 seat casual fine-dining restaurant on the first floor, a cocktail lounge, Salon at Premise, upstairs, and of course their beautiful patio will be open during those warmer months which are right around the corner.  Becoming more of a restaurant instead of their current cocktail lounge/wine bar concept, you can expect food similar to that of what Runge was whipping up at Graham Elliot, and Premise will also feature brunch.  There will be no changes to the In Fine Spirits bottleshop (5418 N Clark) next door, and the restaurant and lounge will continue to serve up the creative cocktails they’ve become famous for on Clark Street.

Make sure to keep up with all the updates on Premise on Facebook.

I will miss IFS and all the fine servers and bartenders we’ve had over the past several years, especially Chip, Jackie, Cody (best bartender ever!), Kevin, Angela, and many others.  So so sad to see you go.  Our Friday nights will never be the same.

It’s the end of an era. Truly sad to see IFS go.
