Groupon Promotes Edgewater Packpage to Highlight Local Businesses

edgewater4Groupon has recently entered a partnership with the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce to attract community members and Groupon customers to to take advantage of Edgewater’s best things to eat, see and do. The ‘Explore Edgewater Campaign featuring 16 of our premier local businesses‘ promotes an array of different types of discounted packages at businesses around the hood.

The 48th Ward’s Alderman Office, along with ECC have long been working on efforts to expose the local businesses to a broader audience, including our surrounding neighborhoods. Edgewater Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Katrina Balog tells us, “We met with Groupon for several months and developed a strategy that would target consumers in Edgewater and the nearby neighborhoods, would highlight our businesses using custom imagery as opposed to stock photos and would allow our businesses to offer special experiences and packages to consumers. This is the first time Groupon has partnered with a local organization to create a neighborhood collection. So far, the response has been outstanding with several participating businesses selling hundreds of Groupons. ”

The campaign features a little something for everyone. For foodies around the way, take advantage and treat yourself out to eat at one of our international restaurants such as Little Vietnam or Ras Dashen. For our physically motivated and those in search of new fun ways to work out, there are deals for memberships with the Edgewater Athletic Club, discounts for drop-in fitness classes at Cheetah gym, rate-reductions at Sivananda Yoga Center and classes with the Trapeze School New York. There’s also packages available with local theatre groups Raven Theatre and Jackalope Theatre Productions.

General Manager of Cheetah Gym, Angie Frank says, “Our gym has always had a great relationship with Groupon and they have been very creative in bringing in new clientele over the years. It’s great to see a large company like Groupon work to make a difference within our local community. It has really helped us get new customers in the door to try out our classes and see what we are about.”
