Gang Shooting Two Blocks From Senn High School

gunLast Wednesday, May 21, there was a gang related shooting at Glenlake and Clark Streets. The incident occurred just three short blocks from Senn High School when a vehicle filled with Rogers Park gang members attempted to assault a rival gang member walking down Clark Street. The assault victim then retrieved a gun from the bag of a female companion and shot one of the other gang members in the hand.

The wounded individual was taken to an area hospital and was interviewed by police, however, no arrests have been made as of yet. The incident remains under investigation.

Harry Osterman released a statement today saying, “Since the time of the incident my office has been working closely with the 24th and 20th Districts to increase police patrols and tactical patrols – units that specifically focus on gang violence – in the area around the shooting.” He added, “The police are also increasing patrols in areas that these gangs have been known to frequent. Additionally, I was in contact with staff at Senn High School requesting their assistance in helping ensure safety in and around the school.”

The alderman’s office would like anyone with information on this event or any other suspected gang activity or grafitti to call their office immediately. Please contact Marko Zaric at (773)784-5277 or Marko@48thward.org.

There will also be a Summer Public Safety Meeting on Monday, June 2nd at 7:00pm at the Broadway Armory Park, 5917 N. Broadway. They will be discussing community efforts on how to curb gang activity and increase summer safety.
