Flourish 2.0

We mentioned last month that Flourish Bakery & Cafe (1138 W Bryn Mawr) was under new ownership, so of course we had to check it out. The new owners were quick to give the space a facelift in August, and also made some tweaks to the menu (click here to view the new menu). The same friendly service remains, as do many of the sweets that people have been lovin’ since Flourish opened in 2006. We stopped in for lunch, and ordered the California Turkey sandwich (with potato salad), the Chopped Chicken salad, and topped it off with a German chocolate cupcake. Everything was delicious, and the portions were hearty. My only critique, and its a minor one at that, was that the lettuce pieces in the “chopped” salad were huge, they needed more chopping. But thankfully it was served with a knife, so this was easily remedied. Whether you’ve never been to Flourish, or haven’t been there recently, we highly recommend you check out the place and the recent improvements the new owners have made. As if you need more reason to go, they will be featuring 2 soups daily with the fall/winter seasons upon us, according to their website (http://www.flourishbakerycafe.com/).
