Time to start keeping a close eye on certain “bad” apt buildings on Winthrop and Kenmore, and go after landlords and property managers whose bldgs are harboring criminal types, where there is a lot of loitering and litter out front or huge accumulations of trash in back, where there is a lot of turnover and people there who do not live there. That is how Mary Ann Smith cleaned up the ward in the late 90s. It was amazing how fast she did it.

I was a bit surprised that Mr. Osterman did not send out a letter via email, as he normally does. Perhaps he did and I missed it? Regardless, if it does not come in the next couple days I will send an email to see if we can find out more. We, as residents of Edgewater, deserve to know exactly what happened and how this may implicate us (i.e. – if gang related, retaliation)

I saw the shooter escape through the alley between Winthrop and Kenmore heading north. He was with two women. All 3 looked to be about 20-25 yrs of age. Didn’t see their faces and I believe one car was in pursuit of the assailant when I saw what was happening. No one was in pursuit of the 2 women from what I could tell. The women actually casually strolled down the alley when the assailant took off running. They headed east on Glenlake when officers started the pursuit. Not sure if the building on the corner of the alley and Glenlake has surveillance cameras but it might be worth a look.
