Edgewater man charged with criminal sexual assault of runaway teen
An Edgewater man has been arrested and charged with sexually assualting a 15 year old runaway teen that he met at a party in the suburbs, according to the Chicago Tribune and state prosecutors. Lavelle Scott, 23, who resides in the 1000 block of West Hollywood apparently met the teenager at a party in Lombard, invited her back to his Edgewater apartment and raped her in the building’s parking garage.
Scott was arrested Saturday morning by Chicago Police after the girl was able to tell a witness about the attack. Scott tried to pull the girl away and shove the witness, but the girl was able to escape. When police arrived at the scene Scott attempted to resist and acted aggressive toward officers according to the Tribune story, but was tasered by police and arrested. He is being held on $350,000 bail.
