The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce Names New Executive Director

katrina_247x300.1Edgewater, Chicago, IL – January 3, 2014 – The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Katrina Balog is the new executive director effective January 2, 2014. As executive director, she will serve 130 Chamber member businesses by providing strong leadership and business development and educational opportunities.

Jennifer Clark, Chair of the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement, “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to welcome Katrina Balog to the Edgewater Chamber. The board recognizes that proactively engaging Chamber members is key to providing value to membership. Katrina has the ability to engage with small businesses and help them grow and develop.”

Given her years of experience working for a business development organization, Katrina understands the importance of the Chamber’s role in developing strong businesses in Edgewater. Her proven ability to work with small businesses in Chicago is an asset to the Edgewater Chamber.

“The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce has demonstrated tremendous value to the business community in Edgewater through professional development opportunities for member businesses and events like EdgeFest and Chamber Connections,” Katrina said. “I am honored to be the next executive director of the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce. I look forward to serving the Edgewater business community and bringing new programs and services to member businesses.”

Katrina is leaving her position as planning director for Rogers Park Business Alliance where she oversaw commercial district development and events that supported businesses in Rogers Park. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Calvin College and a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from Wayne State University. In 2012, she completed the Chicago Leadership Institute, sponsored by the Executive Service Corps and Young Nonprofit Professionals Network.
