I really wish they would put a Trader Joes in the Dominick’s space but I know it’s not happening :( Whole Foods would be nice though. I feel like anything is better than Dominick’s as they were so ridiculously overpriced- yes I agree that Whole foods is expensive but at least their product is worth the extra money. Dominick’s was a ripoff!!!

Well, I had already been planning to make an offer on the condo when the realtor said that the Granville would have a TJoes where Aldi ended up. So that did sway me. I love the neighborhood and have lived here a long time. I support small business in my neighborhood and go to Metropolis, not Starbucks, Love Lickety Split, Ethiopean Diamond, Indie, Cheetah, Summer and now Pita Fresh. So, please don’t tell me that I don’t support entrepreneurs just because I want a Whole Foods…

Did you really buy your condo because you thought a Trader Joe’s was coming to the nabe? That’s really unusual. True Nature is organic, more expensive in the short term and not chemically altered so that the produce looks gorgeous. As a small business they can’t buy at the same scale as a chain so they will be a bit higher; if you believe that America should have entrepreneurs & small business instead of total corporate control of everything, then they deserve your support. Even t hough, they probably could bring the price down a little and be less arrogant.

I remember the Kroger chain from my old days in St Louis, decades ago. Kroger ran some of the dirtiest and most unappealing stores I ever entered, and couldn’t compete in St Louis, pulling out of that city in the early 80s.

I have lived in Edgewater since 1999. Bought my condo because rumor had it a Trader Joe’s was going into what turned out to be Aldi. I am so wishing for a Whole Foods. While I do not wish ill on True Nature Foods, I do not shop at True Nature as I find it uninviting aesthetically and barren. That space had so much potential to become a warm and inviting place to shop. They are over priced and have no selection and the fruit and vegetables do not look appealing. Their juice and soup bar is good though. Also, I admit that if Whole Foods comes into the neighborhood, property value will go up and new businesses will come into the neighborhood, which is all good.

Am I the only won concerned that a Whole Foods at that location will shut down True Nature Foods across the street?? True Nature is the local health food/organic store that continuously contributes to the community. I’d hate to see them have to try to compete with a big box store like Whole Foods that could easily undercut their prices.

Today’s SUN-TIMES said there are six Dominicks stores that Whole Foods are looking to go into, but didn’t say which in that article. Apparently Whole Foods will also be sending Dominicks card holders a certificate for $15 off a $50 purchase to show they aren’t as expensive as people think they are. That’s the only update I’ve seen lately …

Was just in the Broadway Dominicks. Why are they still even open? There are two small shelves of nothing left, the bank and the Starbucks. Seems like its just costing money for them to even be open.
