The Ismaili Center Chicago, a house of worship located at 6259 N Broadway, was once the home to a house-music club in the 1980’s called AKA’s. It was here and other clubs where DJ’s spun music and people danced through the night that the house music and culture were started in Chicago according to Lee Bay’s blog.
