Looked on Yelp and then the place’s facebook page and they apparently closed at the end of June, due to the owner’s health issues. It is a horrible location, but the restaurant was always being featured on TV or in local magazines because of it’s uniqueness, and they actually made an excellent product. The owner indicated on the Facebook page that she hopes to return once she is healthy again but a new location would be ideal…Broadway close to Loyola, or further south even.

Wasn’t aware that it had closed but am not surprised. Seemed like too specialized of a product to carry an entire business. Also, that location was very poor. Nestled between a bunch of shoddy storefronts.

I know Starbucks is evil, but it’s gonna be a LOT nicer than the crappy old Checkers building that has been abandoned. Now if we can get the current owner of the empty funeral parlor parking lots to clean them up in the meantime….

Hooray! I thought that Starbucks project had been scrapped as there was no progress for so long. Happy to have the coffee but even happier that the corner be free of the eyesore that building’s become.
