Craigslist scam

A reader wrote to inform us that they had been the victim of a scam on Craigslist. The reader posted a “for rent” advertisement on the Craigslist website in hopes of renting out their home. Someone stole the photos and description of her home, reposted the information as their own, and was soliciting up-front payment for the rental unit’s first month’s rent and security deposit when interested parties inquired about the rental. After confronting the scammer via email, the reader contacted Craiglist to have the post removed only to have them show up the next day and posted in multiple cities.
