Community On Alert After Another Andersonville Business Is Burglarized Overnight

After news was reported last week about two Andersonville businesses falling victim to overnight robberies, it has been announced that at least one other store was burglarized on Saturday morning as well.

According to an alert put out by the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce, three individuals cased the alleyway behind Ranalli’s at 1512 W. Berwyn. The crew walked down the alley trying to gain entrance to several of the businesses for about 30 minutes.

They eventually made it to Ranalli’s at 3:18 a.m. and proceeded to throw a brink through their front door to gain entrance. Once inside they continued to damage more property including burglarizing the register.

After a police report was filed, authorities shared that there was three other such robberies in the area most likely perpetrated by the same individuals. It is unclear if the two robberies reported last week at Skywalker Shoes and Andersonville Wine and Spirits were among those incidents.

The Andersonville Chamber added that because of the recent rash of overnight burglaries, business owners should make a point of securing their properties when they leave. If you see individuals trying to access businesses, please call the Police.

They added that the Chamber will be working with the 20th District to advocate for additional patrols, specifically a foot patrol officer.
