Care For Real Helps Pets In Need

Care For Real has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Banfield Charitable Trust in order to help them continue a program which helps feed the pets of those in need. The 2 year old program takes place the first Thursday of every month. Here they can get valuable pet supplies for their four-legged friends.

In a DNA report, Director Lyle Allen said that people were going hungry because they were feeding their animals before themselves. He further explained, “That pet is everything in their life; it’s their best friend, it’s their family. It provides a reason for them to get out of the house and take care of that animal.”

Care For Real’s mission is to help neighbors in the Edgewater community by providing food, clothing and counseling services to those in need. The move to help the pets of those in need was a logical decision to their client’s well being. According to their website, “Pets play an important role in family units. And especially with our senior population (the majority single households and living on their own) find that their pet is just about everything to them – family, best friend and more. Thank you Banfield Charitable Trust for making a huge difference in our clients lives!”
