Berwyn Red Line stop, August 1979

I came across these 2 interesting older shots while looking through a Transit Chicago group on Flickr. These particular photos show a southbound Howard – Jackson Park “B” train (now obviously the Red Line) pulling into the Berwyn station. The pictures were taken facing southeast from the Jewel-Osco parking lot.

The supporting structure for the overpass sure looks to have been in much better shape back then, and the yellow sign advertising apartments on the brick wall above the train is now almost completely faded away. There aren’t too many AMC Hornets or Dodge Darts cruising around Edgewater these days either.
