Mr.Brown,
The closure of the Red Line from Chinatown to 95th.. Was NOT to the least busy part of the Red Line.For Chinese and Black folks it is the MAIN public access pipeline into those communities. That streach of the Red Line has always been one of the busiest . The same could be said of the TOTAL shut down of the Green Line a few years back

It is amazing to me how ANY change or inconvenience to residents in the Lake front wards and they get all flakey.. OMG.. If they close Lawrence.. I must walk or ride the bus ALLLL of 1/4 of a mile to Wilson..The same is true for Arglye.. You will have a chance to use a temporary station at Foster-Winona. What a bunch of privileged cry babies, instead of celebrating the great improvements to some of the most outdated public transit facilities on the system you whine about the silliest issues. Rather than whine ,I would challenge you to show BETTER plan that would get the job done FASTER and save money. In fact I would bet you would be hard pressed to make a legitimate argument about the closings at all..just whining

I agree the Lawrence and Argyle stations need to be redone.. However, over two years ago the Thorndale and Berwyn stops were closed and when they reopened (especially the Thorndale)..still NO elevators or escalators! WTF! I don’t care about a gigantic lobby with tile everywhere…

Go to Sheridan a ride the #147 downtown. But beware, if you look east just south of Addison, the Gilligan’s Island Theme pops into your head. Every time.

I think we need to bite the bullet and get this done. But, I would much rather live with the outdated current trains and spend the money to add more trains such as the talked about and never started “second loop train”. Or a train down the entire length of LSD. It’s ridiculous you can’t get from one neighborhood to another without going through the loop. The trains are not keeping up with the way people are living and working and it’s resulting in more and more grid lock.

Actually I take the Redline everyday almost. This is what happens when infrastructure gets rebuilt. Like it or not ok.

If the project took three times longer so you don’t have to walk two blocks…why would that be worth it?

Maybe you are only planning to live in Chicago a few more years who knows.

Yes, please come back to me in the dead of winter (or during wicked storms) and you have to walk an additional 1 mile each way to get to the transportation to get you to work and then tell me how it is no biggy.

You obviously aren’t taking the red everyday for work like me. Yes, the sun will continue to revolve, but if you think I’m waiting 3 years to have a normal commute then think again. I’m sure many new home buyers and renters who don’t drive feel the same as me. I guess all of us are supposed to take the overloaded buses that get stuck in workday traffic. Yes, add 30+ minutes to my commute each way.

Ok genius…how would you rebuild a century old transit line? Or would you not because it would be too inconvenient. Amazing.

The Lawrence platform is unique because it spans two different support systems. To keep it open while rebuilding would be one expensive, long, and crazy dance.

The entire Redline was shut down for months recently from Chinatown to 95Th. The world is still turning and the sun still rises in the east…it will be ok.
