Art opening at Kitchen Sink

Kitchen Sink Cafe is hosting an event this Friday from 7PM-9PM featuring the artwork of Clea Mirza James and Sayward Schoonmaker’s poetry. There will be wine and cheese served at the event.

Clea Mirza James makes work exploring identity through memory, filtration, invented narratives and communication failure. She works with cut paper, miniature painting and fabric to create elaborate images pulled from flashes of memory.

Sayward Schoonmaker’s poetry and text-based installations explore the clich├ęs of longing through history, place and language. Schoonmaker will give a reading at the opening. The event is free. Show runs through Jan. 15.
