Andersonville’s Legendary Great Lake Pizza Will Be Back In Business For One Night Only

There are many things about Andersonville that make it so great, but there are few that get nationally recognized and make stars like Beyonce and Jay Z wait in line with the rest of us.

Great Lake Pizza, which was located at 1477 W. Balmoral Avenue, was so good that it literally caused lines that customers would wait in for hours. However, after the pizzeria closed in 2013 due to a reported dispute with the landlord, the restaurant has yet to reopen.

Now it was announced that for one night only, Great Lake Pizza owners Nick Lessins and Lydia Esparza will be serving up their famous pizza by the square slice to help celebrate the 5-year anniversary of Cellar Door Provisions (3025 W. Diversey) on Monday, Feb. 4, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Pizza will be $6-$7 per slice and is first come, first served.

Cellar Door Provisions has been making a name for themselves in the Chicago food scene as well. The 20-seat BYOB restaurant crafts farm-to-table American fare, country bread and pastries. In social media posts they expressed their excitement about the upcoming event.

The Great Lake Pizza pop-up is a positive sign from the creative culinary team and has many wondering if there is a possibility of another restaurant in the near future.
