Andersonville welcomes ‘Mischief’ to Clark…
Antiques, vintage pieces, and provacative lifestyle items? That’s exactly what you’ll find, and more, at Andersonville’s newest boutique Urban Mischief (5135 N Clark).
This isn’t just another home decor store, it’s a unique concept to Andersonville’s retail strip on Clark: an eclectic home furnishings store that features a shop within a shop of mischievous things for both you and the home tucked in the back corner of the store behind a cloth curtain. Currently “behind the curtain” you’ll find custom-made burlesque swings, lace handcuffs and nude art, but the inventory will constantly be changing.
The store is owned and managed by “Madam” Shelly Elfstrom, who also refurbishes many of the antique/vintage furniture pieces herself. The store had been an idea of Elfstrom’s for awhile, and after losing her job in the non-profit world unexpectedly, she decided it was time to pursue her dream and open her own store. With the help of retail consultant Nicole Reyhle (Retail Minded), Elfstrom sought out the perfect location and all signs kept pointing back to Andersonville due to its vibrant home furnishing offerings. With financing almost impossible to obtain in today’s economy, she completely self-funded the store and relied on her passion and personal touch to open successfully last week.
In celebration of the opening, Elfstrom will be hosting a Grand Opening event next Thursday, August 18th from 6pm – 9pm. All Buzz readers are invited, so check out the Facebook event page if you’re interested in going, but if you can’t make we suggest you stop by and look “behind the curtain” some other time soon.
